The shambling mound, a mortal form assumed
Emerges form the mire in which was consumed
A man, a mind, the moss and loam it taught
Inspiring vegetal consciousness and thought

He levels all their cities
Darkly, his green mind considers

His voyages take him far
Out into the aether
He learns secrets cabalistic in content
But longs to return to the green
Struggling to solve dichotomy within
Flesh tries to speak, wood simply listens
The sound of the end looming on the horizon
An event of which he tries to make us wiser
